Baseball Boys

We had another fun Saturday filled with baseball! I was so proud of both boys they did an awesome job hustling, fielding, and HITTING! Yes, Jackson had his first two hits of the season! Yeah!!! He was beyond thrilled that he hit twice in one game. After Jackson’s first hit, everyone went crazy: parents were cheering, I was screaming, and Jackson’s teammates  were jumping up and down.  When J returned to the dugout, he was greeted with high-5s and congratulations from his teammates. At the end of the game, Jackson was awarded one of the game balls! He is so proud of his accomplishment and so am I!

Paul had another great game. He played his favorite position, pitcher, for an inning, tagged out a runner, hit well, and snagged a difficult grounder when playing short-stop.

Here are some pics from the day:

Season Opener

Last weekend was our first official “baseball weekend.”  Unfortunately the weather was not the greatest: it was cold and windy with a light spitting rain.  Yuck! While we thought it was a little chilly out, we had no idea that the weather was going to drop throughout the morning, so needless to say, we all froze. P.W. and I huddled under the big beach blanket we brought for the bleachers, and father Paul endured the cold in his shorts and t-shirt the best he could. At least J had on a long sleeve t-shirt under his uniform, but we did not bring a jacket so he was totally freezing (as were most of his teammates). As J got colder and colder so did his attitude toward the game. By the end of the game he swore he would NEVER play baseball again! (Luckily the game on Tuesday was warm and his team won 11-2 so his attitude has taken a turn for the better.)

Here’s Jackson warming up for the game:

Here he is excited for the game to begin:

and here he is after the cold has set-in: check-out the body language……a total reversal of the smiling boy above:

After Jackson’s game we went home to thaw and grab a quick lunch. We returned for Paul’s game wearing out coats – ready for the cold. We had a little time before Paul’s game started so the boys decided to do some tailgating. Isn’t Jackson super cool with his ipod? As you can see, Paul is totally excited for his first tball game of the season: the weather doesn’t bother him at all.

Here are some pics of Paul’s first game: (He is wearing the helmet in the second picture because he is the pitcher.)

I’m sure you’ll be seeing a lot more baseball pictures! :) The season runs into JUNE!
